Abstract:Peptidoglycan associated lipoprotein (Pal) is an outer membrane protein from Gram‐negative bacteria, including Escherichia coli (E. coli). E. coli has two subpopulations of Pal: a periplasmic subpopulation bound to peptidoglycan and a surface exposed subpopulation. When the bacteria are cultured under normal conditions in rich media, only a small percentage of cells contain surface exposed Pal. Under more stressful culture conditions (ex. increased temperature, the presence of antibiotics), E. coli will releas… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
