Probing the Folding Dynamics of Human Telomeric G-Quadruplex with Single-Molecule FRET

Abstract: Oxidative stress has been connected to aging, cancer and the development of many other diseases. Oxidative damage occurs while cellular oxidizing species concentration increases or antioxidant defenses decrease. One of the most common products of oxidative damage in DNA is 8-oxoguanine (8-oxoG).The frequent presence of 8-oxoguanine is due to the lowest oxidation potential of guanine amongst the four DNA bases. In particular, the guanine rich nature telomeric 3'-overhang sequence makes telomere more prone to th… Show more

“…The parametrization in Eq. (58a) is compared with an alternative parametrization from the recent analysis by Zhou and Yang [14], which agrees with the data in the intermediate Using the Aznauryan parametrization [60,61] of the γ * N ∆ form factors, the TPE contributions from ∆ intermediate states to the generalized form factors F 1 , F 2 and G a are illustrated in Fig. 10 for both the imaginary and real parts.…”

“…The electric form factor G * E determines the difference g 2 − g 1 , while g 3 is sensitive to G * E and the Coulomb form factor G * C . In the present analysis, we take the Jones-Scadron form factors from the phenomenological parametrization by Aznauryan [60,61],…”
