“…For crude oil having asphaltene and confined into the rock sample, the NMR distribution portrait is approximately closer to that of bulk excluding the boosting in the absolute value of the portrait. The work conducted by Louis-Joseph et al develops further the arguments of Zielinski et al…”

“…There are important contributions on the effect of asphaltene presence in probing dynamics of crude oils in bulk and confined states. Louis-Joseph et al have applied 2D DOSY NMR and NMR relaxometry for analyzing crude oil supplied by Total (EP, France). They have studied four samples: original crude oil sample having 9 wt % asphaltene, maltenes probe without asphaltene, the original sample confined into a porous sandstone rock, and the fourth probe prepared by mixing the original sample and the second one without asphaltene.…”

“…However, it does not require any particular sample preparation and maintains the original chemical environment of the sample during analysis. It has been used for not only petroleum fraction characterization and to study asphaltene aggregation phenomena , but also crude oil sample analysis. …”
