Probabilistic evaluation of maximum dynamic traffic load effects on cable-supported bridges under actual heavy traffic loads

Abstract: The traffic load has grown significantly in recent years, which might be a threat for the service safety of existing bridges. Thus, it is an urgent task to assess the actual traffic load effects on bridges, considering actual heavy traffic load instead of design traffic load. This study presents a framework for extrapolating maximum dynamic traffic load effects on large bridges using site-specific traffic monitoring data. The framework involves vehicle–bridge interaction analysis and probabilistic modelling of… Show more

“…The vehicle load under bridge operation is complicated and random (Liu et al, 2021), in order to reflect the vehicle load on the bridge, the random traffic flow is perceived as the traffic load in the finite element model analysis to ensure that the vehicle load can include the probable various most adverse load combination so that the analysis results are more suitable for bridge operation.…”

“…Once an accident occurs in a gas pipeline, it will not only cause direct losses to the pipeline itself and reduce the economic benefits of the pipeline companies but also cause a huge security threat to the residents and factories around the pipeline and bring serious property losses to the society. Based on this, the test on the influence law of heavy vehicle rolling on the actual pipeline safety in service is carried out, and the monitoring data are analyzed, forming the influence law of heavy vehicle rolling on the pipeline [5][6][7][8].…”
