Proangiogenic Properties of Thrombospondin-4

Abstract: Objective Thrombospondin-4 (TSP-4) is 1 of the 5 members of the thrombospondin protein family. TSP-1 and TSP-2 are potent antiangiogenic proteins. Thbs4 is one of the extracellular matrix proteins that promotes vasculature remodeling after cortical lesion (Andersson et al, ; Muppala et al, ), and Nts is an important neuropeptide in the CNS that could be released locally to modulate the wound healing response (St.‐Gelais, Jomphe, & Trudeau, ), suggesting that Il6 ΔMic mice could have a delay in healing, as previously observed in systemic IL‐6 KO mice (Fee et al, ; Swartz et al, ).
