Priority-based cell selection for mobile equipments in heterogeneous cloud radio access networks

Abstract: In heterogeneous cloud radio access networks (HCRAN), various types of hyper-dense cells coexist and overlap with one another. Cell selection (CS), i.e., each mobile equipment (ME) always selects the most appropriate cell for access, becomes one of the key issues that have not been well solved yet. With traditional schemes, CS decision should be triggered at any time when an ME moves across any cell border. Since the deployment of femtocells in the near future will be extremely dense, an ME may quite frequentl… Show more

“…Despite above mentioned aspects of H-CRAN, there are some papers, which discover CAPEX/OPEX, load balancing, and mobility management including [91], [149], [150]. In [91], the authors propose a theoretic framework that enables computation of the deployment cost of a H-CRAN.…”

“…Article [149] researches link capacity between RRHs and the BBU pool (backhaul) in order to balance traffic load, enhance backhauling performance, and decrease pressure on the transport links. As for the mobility management and more specifically the cell selection, the authors in [150] propose a scheme for the user equipments to directly select the cell with the highest priority in high dense H-CRAN. The priorities, which are considered in the paper are cell features, mobile equipment mobility features and application features.…”
