Priority-Aware Packet Pre-marking for DiffServ Architecture Based on H.264/SVC Video Stream Structure

Abstract: The H264/SVC codec allows for generation of hierarchical video streams. In the stream of this type video data belonging to different layers have different priority depending on their importance to the quality of the video and the decoding process. This creates new demands on the mechanisms of packet marking, and thus new challenges for the policy guaranteeing QoS parameters, such as those defined in the DiffServ architecture. Therefore, mechanisms of the traffic engineering used in the DiffServ network should,… Show more

“…The architecture of the latest version of this port, 3.1, has been completely revised, and the solutions proposed in the quoted publications cannot be applied to the latest version of the USB port (USB 3.1 Gen 1). Some attempts to define the process model data in a USB 3.1 port has been made in the work [5]- [6]. The similar problem of applying QoS, defined in this case as ensuring the synchronization of peripheral devices using the broadcast mechanism of isochronous time stamps, was also considered in paper [4].…”

“…These assigning of colors depends on packet arrival rate. There are two types of rates that are Peak Target Rate (PTR) and Committed Target Rate (CTR) [7]. If the packet's throughput meets the PTR then ItswTCM will assign red color to that packet with high priority.…”

“…ItswTCM remembers the Time_Avg using a maintained history by estimating the rate of sent packets. The Current_Time is the arrival time of the current packet and its packet size is represented by Pkt_Size.We measure the traffic rate and assign a color to packets depending on two basic type of defined rates i.e., Committed Target Rate(CTR) and Peak Target Rate(PTR) [7]. Initially, the CTR is our Avg_Rate and the Last_Time is zero.…”
