Print-Light-Synthesis for Single-Step Metal Nanoparticle Synthesis and Patterned Electrode Production

Abstract: The fabrication of thin-film electrodes, which contain metal nanoparticles and nanostructures for applications in electrochemical sensing as well as energy conversion and storage, is often based on multi-step procedures that include two main passages: (i) the synthesis and purification of nanomaterials and (ii) the fabrication of thin films by coating electrode supports with these nanomaterials. The patterning and miniaturization of thin film electrodes generally require masks or advanced patterning instrument… Show more

“…The geometries of the electrodes are defined by specifically prepared masks containing screens through which the paste is pressed onto a substrate. Nowadays, maskless material deposition techniques are coming more and more into the focus of research, such as inkjet printing [32]. Inkjet printing is based on the ejection of picoliter droplets on demand by creating a pressure pulse inside the nozzles of the printheads, using, for instance, piezoelectric actuation.…”
