Principle study of image reconstruction algorithms in muon tomography

Abstract: A: Muon tomography is a relatively new method of radiography that utilizes muons from cosmic rays and their multiple Coulomb scattering property to distinguish materials. Researchers around the world have been developing various detection systems and image reconstruction algorithms for muon tomography applications, such as nuclear reactor monitoring and cargo inspection for contraband. This paper studies the principle in image reconstruction of muon tomography. Implementation and comparison of some popular alg… Show more

“…SNS-based electrospinning has been widely utilized to prepare nanofibers in many research reports [1][2][3] . However, the major prevailing problems are that the nanofiber productivity fabricated by a SNS-based setup is very low and the SNS can easily clog.…”

“…Electrospinning has gained attention as a popular technique to fabricate nanofibrous materials, which shows promising applications for drug delivery [1][2][3] , wound dressing [4][5] , and engineered tissue scaffold 6 . Typical electrospinning setups are mainly based on singleneedle spinneret (SNS).…”

“…There are several patents deposited and issued on topical anti-infectious use of ozone: i) in gaseous form; ii) after saturation of gaseous ozone from aqueous, non-greasy pharmaceutical solvents and vehicles; iii) where ozone gas reacts chemically with unsaturated substrates leading to therapeutically active ozonated derivatives (8). Direct ozonation of vegetable oils with unsaturated fatty acids leads to the formation of 1,2,4-trioxolane, the active form of ozone in these substrates (32). Only from the 2000s onwards that knowledge of how to manage ozone reactivity was consolidated, precisely measuring its concentration and permanently incorporating gas into triglycerides where ozone gas reacts chemically with unsaturated substrates leading to therapeutically active ozonation (44).…”

“…In the case of acne, this study indicates the route of administration would be autohemotherapy with 10-20 µg/mL, 10 mL, 100-200 µg O3, 1-2 times a week. Zeng and Lu (32) reported the use of ozonated oils in the treatment of scaly erythema, recovery of wounds and skin ulcers, and argue that the oil itself acts as a moisturizer and protector particularly for those patients with impaired skin barrier function.…”

“…In the muon scattering tomography [1][2][3][4], the scattering angle due to the volume-of-interest (VOI) and its associated statistics act as the principal variables in order to discriminate as well as to reconstruct the corresponding VOIs in the image reconstruction techniques such as Point-of-Closest Approach (POCA) [5][6][7][8][9][10][11]. As specified by the conventional tomographic configurations based on the muon scattering [12], the entire detection system regularly includes a bottom hodoscope below the VOI in addition to a top hodoscope above the VOI on the condition of multiple detector layers present at each hodoscope [6,7,10]. In these tomographic setups hinged on the muon scattering, the scattering angle is commonly computed by constructing a vector [13][14][15] founded on two hit locations at two distinct detector layers within every hodoscope.…”
