Principle Component Analysis and Diversity Studies in Sunflower Lines (Helianthus annuus)

Abstract: Background: Sunflower crop being a highly cross pollinated with high yield potential, can be grown in all seasons with its suitability in variety of inter and series cropping systems due to its photo insensitive nature and can be adapted to a variety of environmental conditions also. So keeping in mind of its potential and future use, research was conducted with available lines to study PCA and its diversity that might be used in hybridization programmes. Methods: The 45 lines of sunflower were grown in a rand… Show more

“…Short oats, or Avena brevis, are grown in South Europe as green fodder. Oats suits to a wide range of soil with good water holding capacity but high N content in soil is not a desirable condition as it may lead to lodging (Hilli and Immadi, 2022;Hilli, 2021;Hilli and Immadi, 2021). It grows best in cool and moist climates which is important during grain filling for high yield.…”

“…Agricultural productivity can be reduced by 50 to 70 percent as a result of abiotic stress, which has a substantial influence on the growth and development of crop plants. 23,24,25 The release of greenhouse gases from diverse sources (global warming) is one of the factors assumed to be responsible for the steady increase in global average temperature. This alters the pattern of precipitation, which in turn leads to irregular drought or flood stress.…”
