Abstract: A new species assigned to Primula section Aleuritia Duby is described and illustrated under the name P. mianyangensis G.Hao & C.M.Hu. “…Primula species, even distantly related ones, can be hybridized readily in greenhouse conditions [ 11 ] and in the wild, as reported recently [ 12 – 14 ]. In addition, new Primula species in the HHM and adjacent area have been described a number of times in recent years [ 15 20 ]. This suggests that the species diversity of Primula is still underestimated.…”

“…Similar species and remark s : In a previous study ( Wu et al., 2013 ) we made some comments on the non-scapose species in the genus Primula , which are uncommon, but sporadically occur in sections Petiolares Pax, Minutissimae Pax and Aleuritia Duby. Based on its leathery capsule opening by teeth (not submembranous and crumbled irregularly as in sect.…”

“…The modern center of diversity of Primula is in southwestern China, with ca 300 species of 24 sections, most of which occur in western Sichuan, eastern Xizang, and northwestern Yunnan (Hu 1994, Hu andKelso 1996). Increased exploration across this region results to the discovery and description of new Primula species in the past 15 years (Hu and Geng 2003, Wu et al 2013, Xu et al 2017a, 2017b, Yang et al 2017, Ju et al 2018 Section Proliferae Pax (10:217, 1889) of the genus Primula comprises more than 20 species, mainly distributed in Eastern Himalaya and Hengduan Mountain in China. Most species in this section are horticulturally important plants.…”
