Primer registro de Pycnoderes quadrimaculatus Guérin-Méneville (Heteroptera: Miridae) en Venezuela

Abstract

Se registra por primera vez en Venezuela la presencia de la plaga de cultivos de hortalizas y vegetales Pycnoderes quadrimaculatus Guérin-Méneville (mírido del frijol). Se capturaron 17 especímenes sobre una planta de calabaza (Cucurbita maxima D., Cucurbitaceae) cultivada en un área peridomiciliaria de viviendas situadas en la ciudad de Quíbor, región semiárida del Estado Lara, en el nor-occidente de Venezuela. Se comenta la importancia de este hallazgo, y se recomiendan medidas de vigilancia y control fitosanitario del insecto.Palabras clave: Cucurbita maxima, entomología económica, mírido del frijol, nuevo registro, plagas de cultivos.Abstract. The presence for the first time in Venezuela of the crop pest Pycnoderes quadrimaculatus Guérin-Méneville (bean capsid) is reported. Seventeen specimens were captured on a squash plant (Cucurbita maxima D., Cucurbitaceae). The plant was grown in a peridomiciliary environment from a dwelling in the city of Quíbor, semiarid north-western region of the Lara State, Venezuela. The importance of this finding is commented, and measures of phytosanitary surveillance and control of the insect are recommended.
