Anatomical information about H. ischigualastensis is restricted to a brief account in the original description of the species (Sill, 1970), a short contribution focused on ontogenetic changes (Contreras & Bracco, 1989), a postcranial paleopathology (Trotteyn & Martínez, 2013), and a tridimensional reconstruction of the masticatory apparatus of the holotype (Gentil & Ezcurra, 2018). The lack of detailed, updated anatomical information of H. sanjuanensis complicates discussions about the taxonomy of South American rhynchosaurs as a whole, as well as the phylogenetic relationships within Hyperodapedontinae (Ezcurra et al, 2021).…”
