Primary stenting for aortic lesions: From single stenoses to total aortoiliac occlusions

Abstract: Primary stenting is feasible, safe, and effective for the whole spectrum of aortic occlusive disease. Especially for patients with infrarenal aortic stenoses, it is recommended as the first-line treatment and should be considered as a viable alternative to surgery for total aortoiliac occlusions.

“…However, there are no randomized data to support this assertion. A small series from Klonaris et al 21 hypothesized that the use of self-expanding stents would also trap any mural debris, thus preventing distal embolization. Additionally, the use of a covered stent would alleviate any concern about vessel wall rupture during the angioplasty process, which was seen in 2% of patients in prior studies.…”

Aortik stent sonuçlarına baktığımızda primer açıklık %80-100 arasında sekonder açıklık %95'in üzerindedir [12]. Aortik bifurkasyon ve ana iliyak arter dü-zeyini birlikte içeren darlıklar özel yaklaşım gerektirir.…”
