Hydatid cyst (CH) is a zoonotic disease caused by a parasite of the cestode class called Echinococcus [1].There are 4 main genera of Echinococcus: E. granulosus, E. multilocularis, E. vogeli, and E. Oligarthus. Echinococcus granulosus causes cystic echinococcosis (CE), and this clinical form is the most common clinical form both in our country and in the world [2]. It can be involved in many organs and systems. In this study, we aimed to present atypical localized hydatid cysts such as intracerebral, ovary, thigh and uterus. All cases were confirmed by histopathological diagnosis. In conclusion, since our country is an endemic region in terms of hydatid cyst disease, it should be noted that such atypical localizations can be found in many different anatomical regions other than the liver and lung. In the treatment of the disease, appropriate surgical and medical treatment and regular follow-up are important to detect local recurrence and complications of the disease.

Albendazole is a benzimidazole group drug used alone or in combination with surgery in the treatment of many helminthiasis, especially hydatid cysts. Type 1 hypersensitivity reaction has been reported rarely. Treatment with desensitization has been successfully applied in a few adult patients, however literature information on pediatric patients was not available. Here, we present a pediatric case in which Type 1 reaction occurred due to the use of albendazole during hydatid cyst treatment and undergone desensitization.

Hydatid cyst is a parasitic infection caused by Echinococcus granulosus, and is endemic in some countries and regions where the common hosts (cattle, cow, sheep) are frequently raised, such as Middle East, Australia, South America, and Turkey (1). The human is an intermediate host of this parasite, and is usually contaminated through infected foods. Liver and lungs are the most common sites of hydatid cyst whereas soft tissues are rare localizations for this disease, even in endemic areas. Among those, abdominal wall is an extremely unusual site for primary hydatid cyst (1-3). Herein, a rare and interesting case of hydatid cyst located in the anterior abdominal wall was presented.
