Primary photochemical processes for PtCl62− complex in acetonitrile solutions

Abstract: À was proposed to be a chain carrier in the chain photosolvation process. Dependencies of quantum yield of photosolvation on the initial complex concentration and excited light intensity were fitted in the framework of the proposed chain mechanism. Rate constants of the reactions of intermediates were determined.

“…The lack of marked spectroscopic features requires that ultrafast techniques (e.g. time-resolved absorption and infrared spectroscopy) are employed for understanding their excited state evolution, as recently reported for a number of Pt IV salts [8,9] and complexes [10], including azido compounds [11,12]. Nonetheless, several pioneering studies are available in the literature of the 60-90s on the photochemistry of Pt complexes with potential in chemotherapy.…”

“…A kinetic analogue could be found in the photochemistry of the PtCl 6 2− complex in water [33][34][35] and acetonitrile. 36 For mechanistic study of chain reactions nanosecond laser flash photolysis was applied. (Fig.…”

“…15 The mechanism includes redox reactions with the participation of short-lived Pt(III) intermediates. 16 As a result, the chain pathway of solvation is realized in aqueous 15 and acetonitrile 17 solutions. The identification of Pt(III) intermediates was based on the X α calculations performed by Goursot et al in the 1980s.…”
