Primary Malignant Melanoma of the Uterine Cervix: Case Report and Review of the Literature

Abstract: A case of primary malignant melanoma of the uterine cervix is presented. So far only 26 cases have been reported. Vaginal bleeding was the most common complaint. Total abdominal hysterectomy with bilateral salpingooophorectomy and adjuvant radiotherapy is the elective treatment. Prognosis for this entity is poor. The tumor seems to arise from melanocytes that are usually present in the cervix.
