Abstract:Hyperparathyroidism is an endocrine disease characterized by excessive secretion of parathyroid hormone (PTH) by the parathyroid glands. Primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) can be diagnosed biochemically with the combination of hypercalcemia and upper-normal or elevated levels of PTH.
