Primary Cutaneous Aspergillosis in Immunocompetent Adults: Three Cases and a Review of the Literature

Abstract: Primary cutaneous aspergillosis (PCA) can rarely affect immunocompetent people. There is limited knowledge about the prevalence, diagnosis and management of the disease because there are only case reports or small case series in the literature. For this reason, the diagnosis and treatment of three immunocompetent adult patients diagnosed with PCA were discussed by reviewing the literature. In the current report, in addition to treatment with voriconazole for 8-12 weeks we performed repeated surgical debridemen… Show more

A flavus, A. niger and A. terreus have been the most common etiological agents reported for onichomycosis in human (Bongomin et al2018) [12].…”

“…The patients might also coughed up blood in sputum. Depending upon the severity of infections, the disease is broadly categorized as allergic, chronic and invasive aspergillosis grouped as under: [9,12,21] RESISTANT ASPERGILLOSIS (Shelders et al 2012, Helene et al 2020 [22,23] CORONAVIRUS COMPLICATING ASPERGILLOSIS (Kieren et al 2021) [24] The infection caused by the Aspergillus initially developed the inflammation in lungs and sinuses causing ABPA and sinusitis respectively. In fact, both the conditions might be treated as the happenings prior to infection (Glass and Amedee 2011 and Agarwal et al 2013) [11,17].…”
