Primärer primitiver neuroektodermaler Tumor der Harnblase

Abstract: We report a rare case of primary primitive neuroectodermal tumour of the bladder in an adult. A huge tumour with extensions into pelvic and retroperitoneal tissue was found radiologically in a 62-year-old man. The patient did not complain about remarkable clinical symptoms until 4 days before admission to hospital. Histology of diagnostic transurethral tumour resection showed a small round-cell tumour with focal necrosis and scattered Homer-Wright rosettes. Immunohistochemical analysis revealed that tumour cel… Show more

“…Other neural markers showed different results in pPNET diagnostics. Whereas S100 protein was positive in our case, this marker showed different results in other pPNET patients with positive [3,4,6] and negative staining [8,9]. Cytokeratins, epithelial membrane antigen, desmin (CD33), smooth muscle actin, chromogranin and leucocyte common antigen (CD3 und CD20) were not significant markers in this case, in accordance with the results of Desai and Banerjee et al [8,9].…”

“…In the present case, the immunohistochemistry profile supported the diagnosis of pPNET. As in most reported cases of pPNET, our patient showed positivity for neuron-specific enolase and MIC2 gene [3,5,6,8]. Other neural markers showed different results in pPNET diagnostics.…”

“…The desmoplastic small round cell tumor is characterized by sharply circumscribed nests or clusters of small, undifferentiated cells surrounded by a desmoplastic stroma, and show positivity for cytokeratin and desmin, but negativity for CD99. Therefore, the phenotypes observed in our case, i.e., positive expression of CD99, vimentin, NSE, and synaptophysin, and negative expression of cytokeratins, CD3, desmin, and LCA, are highly suggestive of a pulmonary PNET [3,9-11]. …”
