Abstract: BACKGROUND: Amantadine, an antiviral agent, is the only drug currently approved in Canada for prophylaxis of influenza A virus infection. To minimize side effects, the amantadine dose is adjusted for age and estimated creatinine clearance (CrCl) based on plasma creatinine (Cr) levels.
