Preventive and therapeutic effect of intraportal oridonin on BALb/c nude mice hemispleen model of colon cancer liver metastasis

Abstract: Background: This study is to investigate the preventive and therapeutic effect of intraportal oridonin on colorectal cancer liver metastasis (CRCLM). Methods:The inhibitory effect of oridonin on HT29 cells was determined by CCK-8 and MTT assays. The preventive and therapeutic effect of intraportal oridonin on CRCLM were investigated by establishing BALb/c nude mice hemispleen models of colon cancer liver metastasis. The microscopic characteristics of tumor tissues were observed by hematoxylin-eosin staining, im… Show more

“…Some patients have experienced local tumor cell metastasis and proliferation at the time of treatment, so the survival time of surgical treatment alone is not ideal. Postoperative micrometastasis foci initiate rapid growth mode, and early adjuvant chemotherapy can kill tiny metastatic cancers and residual tumor cells as soon as possible, thereby reducing the recurrence rate and improving survival [ 18 20 ]. Therefore, predicting the recurrence trend of tumors as early as possible and treating them in a timely manner can significantly improve the prognosis and survival rate of breast cancer patients.…”

“…Therefore, this model divides the spleen into two hemi-spleens with vascular pedicles: one inoculated with tumour cells and removed after 10 minutes, and the other one transposed subcutaneously for multiple intrasplenic administrations. The hemi-spleen model solves the aforementioned problems well and is widely used in the study of the treatment of liver tumours 75 .…”

“…Oridonin, a natural terpenoids found in traditional Chinese herbal medicine, impedes inflammasome assembly by forming covalent bond with NLRP3 Cys279 (72). Oridonin administration effectively prevents the formation of colorectal cancer liver metastasis (73) and improves oxaliplatin efficacy (74). Oridonin derivative, with potent anticancer effects, has been very recently synthesized (75).…”
