“…A primary question of interest in this study is whether access to hog insurance will influence hog farmers' behaviour towards risk. Hog mortality rate is an important indicator of risk because the direct risk is unobservable (Zhang et al 2013(Zhang et al , 2016Pai et al 2015). Table 4, Part A, Column 2 shows that participation in insurance increases the hog mortality rate by 5.9 percentage points and the effect is statistically significant at the 1% level, indicating the presence of moral hazard.…”
