“…The results presented in the previous chapter show a relatively large variety of reasons for arrival and ways to spend a holiday in the geopark. This is not surprising, as scholarly works from Korea [28], Scotland [49], the Czech Republic [50], Australia [51], or Gambia [52] have reached similar conclusions. The cluster analysis method divided visitors of the geopark into seven groups, which differ from each other by focusing on vacation for exploration or relaxation, degree of interest in cultural and historical monuments or beauty of nature, search for social events and festivals, or spending holidays in peace and quiet, degree of willingness to run sports activities, etc.…”

“…On the other hand, the question is whether it makes sense to promote more interesting but less-visited geosites. With a larger number of tourists (and especially those tourists who are not exactly natural enthusiasts) [50] comes a greater degree of damage to geosites. Thus, perhaps it would be better not to promote less-known geosites so much and focus on their protection instead.…”

“…The principal limit is that most of the data were obtained during guided excursions, which is a rather exceptional option in the conditions of Czech domestic tourism. By comparing the answers of the participants of these excursions with the results of two extensive questionnaire surveys describing the motivation and preferences of tourists in the region of northern Bohemia (Drápela, 2021;Drápela et al 2021), we find that the main difference between a typical participant of this excursion and ordinary tourists is reduced motivation to learn something new from regular tourist. However, we also encounter this on typical physical educational trails, where some tourists completely ignore the educational boards or just take a quick look at them.…”

“…Cases of geotourist based destruction have been widely documented. In the Swabian Alb UNESCO Global Geopark, Germany, trampling has caused damage to fragile calcerous tufa rocks (Megerle, 2021), while in the Bohemian Paradise UNESCO Global Geopark, Czech Republic, sandstone rocks are often damaged by visitors engraving into the rocks (Drápela, 2021). Furthermore, mismanagement of geodiversity features such as modifying specimens or destruction through infrastructure creation can diminish the geoheritage value of the geodiversity features and processes.…”
