“…Studies limited to pancreaticobiliary cancer alone reported that the median survival times after stent placement were 69-119 days [17,18,22]. In our present study, the median survival time after stenting was 113 days, which was comparable to the results of previous studies.…”

“…Migration of covered GI stents is a well-known clinical problem. [42][43][44][45] This is usually associated with stent dysfunction, and to decrease this risk with cSEMSs, these stents often have a semicovered design with an uncovered portion in the distal and/or proximal end of the stent. Migration of covered biliary stents has been reported to occur in 6% to 12% of cases.…”

“…Endoscopic clips have been used for fixation of doublelayered combination stents prospectively placed in malignant gastric outlet obstructions [15]. No stent migration was observed in 25 consecutive patients who underwent a common technique of clip application, similar to the application we use.…”

“…Few reports of securing the stent to the mucosa by endoscopic clipping to decrease the migration risk have been published [15,16]. To date, no large comparative study of this preventive technique for patients treated with retrievable covered metallic stents is available.…”
