“…This incidence may be related to the fact that patients with PACD are more likely to come to the hospital for examination due to eye discomfort and thus have a higher probability of cysts screened by UBM. Our data showed that patients with cysts were mainly 40-79 years old, which was also the peak onset age of PACD (11).…”

“…With regard to the incidence of cysts, the data obtained by different researchers varied greatly (6,9,11). After carefully analyzing the respective research methods and survey populations, we speculated that the differences in incidence may be due to race, age and disease characteristics of the subjects.…”

“…In our study, some patients underwent ICL implantation surgery with preoperative iris ciliary cysts. The incidence of iridociliary cysts ranged from 4.9% (1157 patients) to 54.3% (116 patients), which showed no consensus and the large iridociliary cysts caused anterior chamber angle closure and increased the risk of secondary glaucoma [ 10 , 16 , 17 ]. Most of the diameter of the cysts are less than 1 mm and have no effect on phakic IOL implantation.…”

“…Moreover, UBM has shown that iridociliary cysts can sometimes lead to angle closure [26] by mechanical anterior displacement of the iris, or even to angle-closure glaucoma [1,3,4,28,29]. Primary iridociliary cysts are usually discovered in young persons [9,25], they tend to be solitary and unilateral [7,13,25], they only rarely occupy multiple quadrants, with the inferior and temporal quadrants being more commonly affected [6,9,25], and only rarely do they enlarge to a size that can compromise the angle [25]. In contrast to the above-described typical presentation of primary iridociliary cysts, we hereby describe an unusual case of primary iridociliary cysts that were multiple, bilateral, discovered in advanced age, occupying all quadrants, and being associated with chronic angle-closure glaucoma.…”
