Abstract: BACKGROUND: Hepatitis B virus infection is a global public health problem. The virus has infected more than one-third of the global population. Well-conducted and recent sero-prevalence studies performed outside the NAIIS framework placed the hepatitis B antigen prevalence in Nigeria to be between 5.0% to 13.0%, with an average of 9.9% [ 25 26 27 28 ].
