“…Unlike classical bimodal peaks in distribution patterns of age at diagnosis in western studies, which showed peaks located in the late teens and late 50s, Asian studies46, including ours, showed dual peaks located in the 20s and 40s. Additionally, early-onset (type 1, <40 years) psoriasis accounted for more than 75% of patients in western studies8 and 67.6% of patients in the Chinese study6, but only 53.9% in our study.…”

“…The mean age of patients in our study (47.0 years) was higher than that observed in hospital based Japanese studies (45.5 years4 and 44.7 years5) as well as a Chinese population-based study (41.8 years6), but was similar to a Taiwanese cohort study (46.4 years7). Unlike classical bimodal peaks in distribution patterns of age at diagnosis in western studies, which showed peaks located in the late teens and late 50s, Asian studies46, including ours, showed dual peaks located in the 20s and 40s.…”

“…The prevalence rates of psoriasis in Europe vary between 0.73% (in Scotland) and 2.9% (in Italy), and rates reported in United States vary between 0.7% and 2.6%, which shows a worldwide geographic variation [1]. In China, the incidence of psoriasis has increased to 0.47% [2], showing an upward trend of 0.12% compared to 1984 [3]. Psoriasis is characterized by scaly, erythematous patches, papules, and plaques that are often severely pruritic.…”

For instance, in China, 59.8% of psoriatic people experience negative influences on quality of life [2]. It has been a cause of increasing concern worldwide due to its high-prevalence and its harmful and incurable characteristics.…”

“…Psoriasis vulgaris was observed in all the 24 patients, which is the most common psoriasis type in China [5]. Increasing evidence suggests that psoriasis is associated with diabetes, metabolic syndrome, and cardiovascular disease, independent of traditional risk factors [3941].…”
