Abstract:Background: The incidence of oropharyngeal candidiasis among people living with human immunodeficiency virus in Africa is on the rise. Oropharyngeal candidiasis is mainly caused by C. albicans; however, a shift in the etiology towards non-Candida albicans species is increasing.
