Prevalence of Human Respiratory Syncytial Virus in Iran: A Systematic Review and meta-analysis

Abstract: Aim:We sought to determine the prevalence of human respiratory syncytial virus (HRSV) in people in Iran between the year 1996 and 2016. Methods: Prevalence of HRSV in Iran was determined from 1996 to 2016 using data from PubMed, Web of Science, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, Google Scholar and Iranian databases. “…The main reasons for differences in coinfection frequency across countries and regions might rely on the patients being investigated, geographical and seasonal variability, study period, prevention and control measures implemented, testing methods, and the spectrum of pathogens targeted. According to the results of a recent systematic review and metaanalysis, the prevalence rates of RSV, IFV, and hMPV were estimated to be 18.0% (22), 10.5% (23), and 8.9% (24) in the prepandemic period in Iran.
