Prevalence of calcific aortic valve disease in the elderly and associated risk factors: a population-based study in a Mediterranean area

Abstract: The prevalence of ASC and AS in people ≥65 years is similar to that reported in other regions. The gradient in the association of cardiovascular risk factors with the severity of ASC suggests that they may be causally implied in the pathogenesis of the disease.
