Delivery by cesarean section is a surgical procedure of delivery to a newborn baby, and the process is applied when vaginal delivery is unsafe. This study aims to identify the socioeconomic, demographic, and cultural factors that significantly impact the delivery by caesarean section. The 2019 Ethiopia Mini Demographic and Health Survey (2019 EMDHS) data were used to conduct this research, and this study considered 2872 ever-married women all over the country who delivered in the clinical setting. Firstly, a frequency distribution table has been constructed to understand the characteristics of the selected explanatory and study variables. Then Chi-square test identifies the association between various socioeconomic and demographic factors and delivery by the caesarian section. Finally, the Binary Logistic Regression was used to determine the factors that substantially impact the caesarian section among women in Ethiopia. The Chi-square test of association showed that mother’s age, type of residence, highest education level, religion, socioeconomic status, total children ever born, use of contraception, age of mothers at first birth, and preceding birth interval were significantly associated with the caesarian section. The multivariate binary logistic regression analysis revealed that the mother’s current age (Age Group: 31–40; Odds Ratio: 2.487, p<0.05) and religion (Muslim; Odds Ratio: 0.599, p<0.05) substantially influenced the study feature. Moreover, the highest educational level (Secondary and higher; Odds Ratio: 1.581, p<0.05), and the preceding birth interval (>40 months; Odds Ratio: 0.682, p<0.05) were also found to have considerable impacts on the caesarian section. Furthermore, the total number of children ever born (>5; Odds Ratio: 0.498, p<0.05) significantly impacts the delivery by caesarean section in Ethiopia. This study’s results would be useful to policymakers to take necessary steps to reduce unnecessary delivery by caesarian section and ensure a safer newborn delivery process.

Aim: to compare patterns of delivery at an urban and a rural district in Egypt over 3 years. Methods: This retrospective study included 500 women and 50 obstetricians from each district from January, 2013 till December, 2015. Women answered a questionnaire about their deliveries. Obstetricians answered a questionnaire about their practiceof CS. Results: CS rate in the rural district was 57.2% compared to 54.8% in the urban district in 2013. In 2014 and 2015, CS rates increased to 65.3% and 69%, respectively in the rural district compared to 56% and 57.7%, respectively in the urban district. 66% of obstetricians in the rural district performed CS for more than 50% of their patients compared to 76% of obstetricians in the urban district. 52% and 4% of obstetricians in the rural and urban districts, respectively, performed CS upon maternal request. 70.3% of women in the rural district who delivered by CS preferred to deliver vaginally. 51.4% of urban women who delivered by CS preferred to deliver vaginally. Level of education was the only factor showing statistical significance. Conclusion: CS rates increased over time with higher rates in the rural area. Level of women's education was the only factor affecting delivery choice. Keywords: Cesarean sections; CS rate; urban area; rural area; Egypt; obstetricians.

Background: Exercise during pregnancy is generally beneficial and can strengthen muscles, reduce backache and stress, and provide a feeling of well-being Aim of the study: This study aim was to evaluate the effect of educational program on woman's awareness and their health status regarding antenatal exercises. Research design: Quasi experimental research design (one group pre-test, post-test)was utilized to fulfill the aim of this study Setting: This study was conducted at antenatal out-patient clinic at Minia University Hospital for Obstetric &Pediatric (MUHOP) hospital Sampling: convenient sample includes 75 pregnant women in their second trimester. Tools of data collection included: tools 1: Interviewing sheet, 2: Awareness assessment tool (pre/post educational program, 3: An observational checklist, 4: Brief Short Form Health Survey (SF-19) 1.0 Questionnaire items. Results: regarding pregnant women awareness , near to half of them their opinion about their health was fair pre educational program compared with minority of them post-test program, and improve physical function of them post educational program than pretest program regarding more three vigorous and moderate activities, lifting or carrying home purchases, bending, kneeling, standing, and walking long distances with highly statistically significance differences P -value ≤ 0.0001 respectively Conclusion: None of the pregnant woman had pre-educational program awareness compared to post-education program, as it was increased and total Short form health mean scores of the pregnant woman regarding antenatal exercise was increased post educational program than pre educational program (68.1 ± 13.4) and (54.5 ± 12.7) respectively), Recommendation: identify the most effective specific types of guidance and motivation in the (or maintaining) exercise in pregnant women.
