Prevalence and in Vitro Culture of Trichostrongylus Spp. in Goat at Trishal, Mymensingh, Bangladesh

Abstract: Trichosrtongylus spp., Looss, 1905 is one of the important nematode of alimentary canal that causes a great harm to the ruminants. The study was undertaken to determine the prevalence of Trichostrongylus spp. and effects of temperature, pH, humidity, light and dark, nutrient and other media on the hatching of eggs, the development and survival of larvae of Trichostrongylus spp. Samples were collected from goats from different villages and slaughter houses of Trishal, Mymensingh, Bangladesh, during the period f… Show more

“…In the present study, the overall prevalence of Trichostrongylus spp. was 31.45%.The present ndings were higher than the previously reported ndings from different countries of the world like 14.93%in Bangladesh (Rajib et al, 2014) Tan et al, 2014). The exact cause of variations in the prevalence of Trichostrongylus cannot be explained but it may possibly be differences in the geo graphical locations, animal population and their habitats, climatic condition, sample size, and methods of examinations.…”

“…The internal transcribed spacer 2 region of ribosomal RNA gene (ITS2-rDNA) is a useful marker for detecting and analyzing the inter and intraspecies variations and phylogenetic relationships of parasites belongs to the Trichostrongylidae family (Ghasemikhah et al, 2012). Although several studies have been carried out to determine the prevalence, epidemiology and the risk of zoonotic transmission of different Trichostrongylus species throughout the world ( (Rajib, Dey, Begum, Momin, & Talukder, 2014). Therefore, this study was designed to determine the prevalence of different Trichostrongylus species from goat viscera by the morphology and morphometric identi cation and to explore the phylogenetic relationships by amplifying the ITS2 gene using multiplex PCR and sequencing.…”
