“…We find that global ancestry estimates partly account for the observed ON presentation in Hispanics with MS and could be responsible for the predominant observation of optic nerve and motor involvement in MS across Hispanics in the United States and Latin America . However, sex and age of onset had less of an effect on the risk of ON as a first symptom of MS. Of note, because not all patients presenting with ON will go on to develop MS, our results suggest more broadly that studies of ON in non‐MS cohorts may benefit from studies of admixed populations.…”
