Abstract: Background: To compare the effect of a pressure-controlled strategy allowing non-synchronized unassisted spontaneous ventilation (PC-SV) to a conventional volume assist-control strategy (ACV) on the outcome of patients with Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS).
