Preserving the Greek theatrical heritage: an object oriented multimedia database approach

Abstract

In this paper we present the architecture, the functionalic and the usage of the APOLLON database. APOLLON database is a pilot object oriented multimedia database designed and implemented by the Department of Computer Engineering and Injormatics in the University of Patras. The database contains the histon of the theatre APOLLON of the city of Patras, one of the most significant theatrical stages in the Western Greece with a history of two hundred years. The application based on an object-oriented approach aims in the adoption of a common object oriented multimedia platfonn for the development and maintenance of multimedia database for the preservation of the Greek theatrical heritage.
