Positive values serve as a catalyst to the formation of sustainable behaviours at the individual level, which contributes to the achievement of a nation’s sustainable development goals. With that, the current study introduces a new conceptual framework based on five pivotal values or goals of Maqāṣid al-Sharī’ah—preserving religion, life, intellect, progeny, and wealth—which serve as predictors in the framing of sustainable behaviours. This study presents an overview of goal-action research, establishes the identified research gaps and study’s aims, which is then followed by an extensive review of Maqāṣid al-Sharī’ah and its five goals. The proposed Maqāṣid al-Sharī’ah-based framework for sustainable behaviours offers new avenues to further establish novel understanding on the universal views of Islam, which are also applicable for the non-Muslim community. Moreover, this conceptual framework provides an alternative perspective to the normative Western viewpoint on sustainable behaviours.

Today, the ecological system is being destroyed due to the environmental pollution. Unlimited consumption habits and the use of non-recyclable materials disrupt the ecological balance; thus endangering the life of all living things in danger. This situation puts the life of all living things in danger. This paper explores how religion might shape perspectives on sustainability measures. The references from the Holy Quran on ecological issues have been highlighted to bring into light the teachings and instructions of Islam and the collaboration of Islamic teachings into environmental campaigns in order to raise social awareness on sustainability issues has been proposed. This paper explains how environmental issues are mentioned in the Qur'an and suggests studies involving Religious Culture and Moral Knowledge (RCMV) teachers and the religious commissaries to protect the environment. At the same time this study shows that it is necessary to act in accordance with the nature of the earth for a more balanced, peaceful and sustainable existential climate.

Islam has discussed a lot of ways to treat the environmentand properly utilize natural resources. In fact, the Quran warns humans on the effects or consequences arising from the excessive use of natural resources. This article tries to provide Qur'anic views on the effects of environmental pollution and excessive exploitation of resources. Any human that pollutes the environment and misuses it, is punishable by God in this world and hereafter. Natural resources such as land, water, animals, and plants need to be maintained and properly managed as a form of gratitude and devotion to God. This research concludes that environmental preservation and adequate use of natural resources is an obligation for every human being, especially for Muslims. Therefore, every human being needs to protect the environment and make a balance in using natural products.
