Present temperature field characterization and geothermal resource assessment in the Harbin Area, Northeast China

Abstract: Seven steady-state temperature profiles are logged in the Harbin Area, Northeast China. The temperature data illustrate high conductive thermal gradients with a mean value of 4.78 C/100 m. Temperature maps at depths of 1000, 1500, and 1800 m are represented. The present temperature field is cooling southeastward, with the highest thermal gradients being observed at the junction zone between the Central Depression and the Southeast Uplift of the Songliao Basin. The recoverable heat is calculated using a volumet… Show more

“…This combined geothermal potential in the formations analyzed in the Llanos Basin is equivalent to 11% of the total geothermal potential of Colombia (Figure 20), estimated by Vieira [105]. Sedimentary basins in China with areas and reservoirs like those in the Llanos Basin present a in the United States [10], China between 3 and 4 km depth [80], South American countries [105], O&G fields in China co-producing energy [106] and evaluation of NE China [77] evaluation of NE China [77]. similar potential heat [80], [106], exceeding the total estimated geothermal potential for countries in South América such as Suriname and French Guyana (Figure 20).…”

“…The previous heat flow data show that the basin is characterized by high heat flow, with a mean of 70.9 ± 14.4 mW m −2 (Shi et al., 2018; Wu & Xie, 1985). The estimated vertical heat‐flow profiles exhibit a gradually increasing trend from 0 to approximately 1,000 m and positive anomalies from 1,000 to 2,000 m. A purely conductive heat flow cannot explain the observed anomalous heat‐flow trends.…”
