“…Clementi et al [1992] found that only 17.8% of the HIV positive subjects investigated harboured actively replicating HBV in PBMCs. A relatively low prevalence of HBV in PBMCs was also observed in HIV infected, HBsAg positive patients by Bartolome et al [1990], who reported prevalences in the HIV patient group that were even lower than those obtained in matched HIV negative control individuals. A large number of the cases investigated by these authors were drug abusers (789% in the HIV positive subjects, 50% in the HIV negative group).…”
