The interest of the educational community in the laboratory- (lab) based education has grown steadily. As remote labs have started to be a reliable alternative to traditional hands-on labs, security and safety issues are becoming increasingly important, as their interconnected nature raises new and challenging issues. The complexity increases when multiple institutions are involved in a federated lab infrastructure. This paper provides a guideline for assessing safety and security in federated labs following the VDI/VDE 2182 guideline and verifies the concept based on remote labs in three different academic institutions.

The development of education informatization has brought about major changes in the forms of education and learning methods. Blended learning will be the key technology to promote higher education in the next one or two years. In order to improve the effect and validity of experimental teaching, this study constructed a teaching mode of virtual reality combined with blended experimental. It realized the blended experimental teaching of 'online and offline learning, simulation training and real experiment'. Research data suggested that the students trained their experimental thinking and skills through selfdirected learning and communication inquiry. The teacher guided the student's learning process and comprehensively evaluated the student's experimental results. Thus, this teaching model has made the student-centered teaching possible and has achieved good experimental results.

The content of practice teaching is generally characterized by danger and complexity, in particular, practical courses in mechanical and electronic circuits. Taking the practical course of machinery as an example, the feasibility of applying virtual reality technology in practical teaching is expounded, the advantages of various virtual reality devices in practical teaching are analyzed and compared, the main research results of school virtual simulation laboratory are briefly described, and the construction direction of virtual simulation for practical teaching in Colleges and universities is summarized.
