Preparative separation and purification of flavonoids from Lamiophlomis rotata (Benth.) Kudo.

Abstract: Purpose The purpose of the paper is to separate and purify flavonoids existed in Lamiophlomis rotata (Benth.) Kudo. by macroporous adsorption resin (MAR) mixed-bed technology. Design/methodology/approach The adsorption and desorption parameters were characterized by UV-VIS spectrophotometry. The optimal MAR mixed bed was screened based on the adsorption experiments; the experiment process was investigated by the order of single, two and three MAR mixed bed separately; and the adsorption performance, which wa… Show more

“…According to single MAR investigation results, as shown in Table II, MAR of LZ-49, LZ-50, LZ-52, LZ-58, LZ-59 and LZ-65 displayed that higher SEs were adopted as backbone to branch the others and composed to mixed-MAR group to select MAR mixed bed, as previously reported (Li et al, 2012;Zhao et al, 2017aZhao et al, , 2017b, and the results in Table III show that the group of LZ-501 LZ-59 was more effective.…”

“…Table II documents that SE of MAR LZ-49, LZ-50, LZ-52, LZ-58, LZ-59 and LZ-65 was higher than 60 per cent, which could be partly ascribed to the influence of MAR's skeleton. First, almost all flavonoids possessed a 2-phenylchromone nucleus, which meant they could be affinity to benzene ring with p À p interaction and be absorbed by MAR with styrenedivinylbenzene (SDVB) skeleton (Zhao et al, 2017a(Zhao et al, , 2017bHe et al, 2011). Meanwhile, according to report (Li et al, 2002), although there were more than 300 sorts of flavonoids in glycyrrhiza, all of them possessed at least two hydroxyls, which meant they could be well absorbed by MAR with hydrogen bond, which meant MAR containing methacrylic skeleton would also display a high SE.…”

“…At present, the study on the adsorption mechanism of MARs is focusing on data fitting and the speculation of structureactivity relationship based on classical kinetic models and thermodynamic models (Zhao et al, 2017a;Chen et al, 2013;Du et al, 2012). These models mentioned above were established many years ago, and not for MARs.…”
