“…Gel permeation chromatography (GPC) was performed using a Symyx Rapid-GPC with an evaporative light scattering detector (PL-ELS 1000). Samples for GPC were prepared in THF at a concentration of 1 mg mL 21 . The molecular weight of the PC-PDMS multiblock copolymers were expressed relative to polystyrene standards.…”

“…Over this compositional space, the physical properties of the copolymers ranged from plastic-like materials at PC contents above 50 wt%, to leathery materials at PC contents of 34 and 42 wt%, to elastomeric materials at PC contents below 30 wt%. Even at the lowest block molecular weights (PC/PDMS 5 3400/1800 g mol 21 ), phase separation was observed in these materials. The strong propensity for phase separation was attributed to the large difference in solubility parameter between PC (d 5 9.5 cal 1/2 cm 3/2 ) and PDMS (d 5 7.3 cal 1/2 cm 3/2 ).…”

“…The only examples for a successful preparative fractionation 10 of a copolymer was to our knowledge so far performed by 17.04.03 means of CPF and concerns a copolymer made of carbonate and dimethylsiloxane. Due to the particularities of the system the separation takes place with respect to both parameters, molar mass and chemical composition, under certain conditions.…”
