Abstract:In the present work, the effect of different acid treatment times of singlewalled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) on the mechanical and thermal properties of polypropylene (PP)/maleated polypropylene (PP-g-MA) nanocomposites was investigated. The acid treatment process was based on a mixture of concentrated sulphuric and nitric acids. The SWNTs were treated with the acid mixture for 1, 3, and 6 h. FTIR, Raman spectroscopy and TEM revealed the values of carboxylic groups, graphitization and morphology of acid treated SWNTs, respectively. The thermal and mechanical properties and the morphology of nanocomposites were investigated by tensile tests, DMTA, DSC, and SEM.

The absorption peaks at wave numbers of 1723 cm -1 (C=O from urethane bond) and 1589 cm -1 (N-H group originating from the urea bond) show formation of an embedding into the PU chain [8]. Abstract. Procedures permitting to prepare homogeneous functionalized nanofibre structures based on polyurethanes modified by phthalocyanines (PCs) by employing a suitable combination of variables during the electrospinning process are presented. Compared are filtration and bacteria deactivation properties of open and planar nanostructures with PCs embedded into polyurethane chain by a covalent bond protecting the release of active organic compound during the filtration process. Finding that the morphology of functionalized nanofibre structures have an effect on bacterial growth was confirmed by microbiological and physico-chemical analyses, such as the inoculation in a nutrient agar culture medium and flow cytometry.

Multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT)-reinforced polybenzoxazine-epoxy nanocomposites were prepared via the solvent method and were investigated for their thermal, thermo-mechanical, mechanical, electrical and morphological properties. Epoxy resin (DGEBA) was modified with 5, 10 and 15 wt.% of benzoxazines using 4,4 0 -diaminodiphenylmethane as a curing agent at appropriate conditions. Epoxy and benzoxazines-modified epoxy systems were further reinforced with 0.25, 0.50 and 0.75 wt.% of surface-modified MWCNT. MWCNT-reinforced polybenzoxazineepoxy nanocomposites exhibited better thermal, mechanical and dielectric properties. Dispersion of MWCNT in benzoxazine-epoxy resins and nanostructure of the composites was confirmed by transmission electron microscopy analysis.
