Preparation, structural characterization, antioxidant activity and protection against cisplatin-induced acute kidney injury by polysaccharides from the lateral root of Aconitum carmichaelii

Abstract: Response surface methodology (RSM) and Box- Behnken design (BBD) based on one-way experiments were used to optimize the extraction parameters of the lateral root polysaccharides of Aconitum carmichaelii. The extracted polysaccharides were named as refined fucose polysaccharide. The optimal conditions included a water to raw material ratio of 43, an extraction time of 2 h, and an extraction temperature of 90°C. The shape of RFP was shown by infrared spectroscopy (IR) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analy… Show more

“…In addition, as the monomer ratios increased, the dimension of the porous structure's pores shrunk from approximately 40 to 8 μm, while the nodules' size reduced from roughly 1300 to 260 nm (as depicted in the particle size distribution of nodules, Figure S6, Supporting Information). At a chitosan/acrylamide ratio of 0.6, the hydrogels' porous structure transformed to an irregular morphology, 30,36,37 and the nodules were replaced by a denser structure, as shown in Figure 1i,i1. The experimental results show that a larger weight ratio of chitosan/acrylamide results in a more compact skeleton, smaller holes, and smaller sizes of nodules.…”

“…89 μg/g, AC at 259.95 μg/g, and benzoylmeaconitine at 158.18 μg/g (Luo et al, 2019). Components of Fuzi, particularly alkaloids and polysaccharides, contribute to its antioxidant activities, antiinflammatory properties, regulation of apoptosis, analgesic properties, and cardiotonic effects (Zhao et al, 2012;Yan et al, 2020;Yang et al, 2021b;Zhang et al, 2022d;Tian et al, 2022;Hacanli et al, 2023). However, HPLC-Q-TOF-MS and ultra-HPLC fingerprinting revealed distinct main activities among the different processed products of Fuzi (Zheng et al, 2014;Tong et al, 2021).…”

“…Refined fucose polysaccharide (RFP), extracted from Aconitum carmichaelii’s lateral root, exhibits antioxidant activity by enhancing the clearance rates of various free radicals and reducing lipid peroxidation. Taking it a step further, Tian et al uncovered that RFP could reduce cell membrane lipid peroxidation in mice with cisplatin-induced acute kidney injury by increasing the levels of GSH and glutathione peroxidase-4 and lowering the levels of malondialdehyde (MDA) and 4-hydroxynonenal ( Chen et al, 2022 ; Tian et al, 2022 ).…”
