Preparation of the polyester/cotton composite yarn with alternating segmented structure and interval color via a promising physical spinning approach

Abstract: Herein, a novel kind of composite yarn with alternating segmented structure and interval color has been prepared based on a ring spinning approach. By adjusting the relative motion and blend ratio of the colored polyester filament and natural cotton staple fiber in yarn spinning process, a series of composite yarns were designed and prepared with various segmented structure and cyclical change of the distinct colors. The blend ratio was found to strongly influence on the segment frequency and yarn performance,… Show more

“…It is usually considered a short procedure, low emission, and environmentally friendly green manufacturing process for textiles by combining two to three colored fibers in a certain blending ratio and then turning them into colored yarns and weaving them directly into colored fabrics, which avoids later fabric dyeing. 13 The traditional colored spun yarn technique possesses certain restrictions in terms of color matching theory, blending methods of colored fibers and the control of colors of the forming yarn. 4,5 With respect to color matching theory, the digital approach of the full color gamut have not been established, and the three-colored tower is commonly employed, which can only manifest the variations of the hue and cannot reveal the changes of the brightness and saturation, and thus faces limitations in their accurate color matching.…”
