“…In the case of aziridine, C 2 H 4 NH, the tris-chelated octahedral complex [ Azirine ligands were mentioned in palladium(II) complexes by several groups in 1978. [54][55][56] One of them presented with trans-[(2H-3-tolylazirine) 2 Cl 2 Pd] the only example structurally characterized by diffraction studies. 55 The syntheses of azirine complexes turned out to be difficult because of subsequent rearrangement reactions in the presence of metal complexes and too long reaction times.…”

“…54,55 Usually they undergo ring-opening or rearrangement reactions in the presence of transition metals. 56,57 Because of the successful employment of aziridine-containing mitomycin derivatives in cancer therapy, some of their transition metal complexes have been synthesized, which did not show significant differences in biological activity compared to the uncoordinated compounds. 58 The cis-bisaziridine Pt(II) complex 59,60 analogous to cisplatin showed no better activity, but had higher selectivity.…”

“…The IR spectra of the complexes 4a-d show sharp absorption bands for the azirine C@N stretching vibrations in the range of 1760 cm À1 (4b)-1777 cm À1 (4d). The tendency of a shift to higher wavenumbers as a result of transition metal coordination with a shift of 22 cm À1 (4a) compared to m(C@N) = 1740 cm À1 of az (3a) is detected [20]. Like complex 2 the complexes 4a-d can be assigned to the point group C s and show three CO valence vibrations of the symmetry race 2A 0 + A 00 at for example 2025 cm À1 , 1928 and 1898 cm À1 (4b) in CH 2 Cl 2 .…”

“…To the best of our knowledge only two X-ray structure analyses of ZnBr 2 and PdCl 2 azirine complexes have been reported [1,[19][20][21]. Inspired by our recent studies on the coordination chemistry of saturated three membered aziridines [22][23][24][25], we chose to study the coordination chemistry of 2H-azirines as a barely investigated class of highly strained ligands.…”
