“…The in-house developed bismuthate glass for the application of aerospace was prepared by using the reagent grade Bi 2 O 3 (72.7 wt.%), B 2 O 3 (15.0 wt.%), BaO (10 wt.%), and Li 2 O (2.3 wt.%) as shown in Table 2 [ 8 ]. The bismuthate glass was melted in a graphite crucible.…”

“…After preparing the oxidation film (which can be obtained by using natural oxidation, anodizing or plasma electrolytic oxidation processes) on SiC p /Al composite, the sealing reliability of this mirror fabricated by the composites and glasses will be enhanced. In our previous study [ 8 ], a novel space mirror was developed by using the bismuthate glass sealed with the preoxidized SiC p /Al composite (70 vol.% SiC). The shear strength of this composite-glass material reached 5.44 MPa which was about 20% higher than that of the popular borosilicate glass-to-Kovar alloy joint material [ 9 ].…”

“…According to previous studies, the mechanical properties of mixed particles tend to signicantly affect the shape of the particles. 8,[18][19][20] Reinforcements with different shapes will cause different resistance of base deformation and load bearing capacity. Consequently, particles with different shape will cause different strengthen effects in mixed particles, which in turn will affect the cutting properties of the material.…”

“…For the aerospace application, combination of glass and alloy was often achieved at relatively high temperature 1000°C after 15 min in the electric furnace. In our previous work [ 12 ], the glass was combined to the SiCp/Al composite matrix with high content SiC particles with 45 μ m, 8 μ m, and 2 μ m addition by preparing an alumina layer on the surface of SiCp/Al composite in the electric furnace. Selecting an optical grade SiCp/Al composite with high SiC content as a space mirror material is propitious to promote the integration of the mirror and its supporting structure.…”
