Preparation of sheep manure biochar and its enhancement effect on wastewater treatment performance of CRI systems

Abstract: Sheep manure biochar (SMB550) was prepared by limited oxygen pyrolysis at 550°C and applied to constructed rapid infiltration (CRI) systems. The structural characteristics of SMB500 were tested and its effect on the wastewater treatment performance of CRI systems was investigated. The results showed that SMB550 had a large specific surface area, abundant pore structure and rich functional groups, showing a good adsorption potential. Using SMB550 as one of the filter material of CRI system, the average removal … Show more

“…The peak 1089 cm -1 ofSMB-300biochar associated with C-O vibrations in esters and ethersand the same for SMB-700 biochar peak 1035cm -1 [29]. The absorption peak of 873 cm -1 in both SHB-300 and SHB-700 biochars is attributed to the bending vibration of C-H on the aromatic ring [27,28]. FTIR spectrum of PFB-300 biochar shows peaks at 3441 cm -1 which obtained to be sharper peak at 3410cm -1 as the temperature increased in PFB-700 attributable to the stretching O-H possibly from carboxyl, phenol, and alcohol functional groups [30].…”
