Preparation of Quercetin Molecularly Imprinted Polymers

Abstract: Molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) of Quercetin (Qu) were prepared using acrylamide (AM), acrylic acid (AA) and methyl methacrylate (MMA) as functional monomers, N,N -methylenebiacrylamide (NMBA) as cross-linker and the redox system L-ascorbic acid (Vc) and hydrogen peroxide (H 2 O 2 ) as initiator in mixed methanol/ethanol media. During the optimization process, another compound, Isorhamnetin (IRa), which possesses a very similar structure with Qu, was recruited as the chaff interference, and the separatio… Show more

“…When quercetin was used as interfering substance, the MIP microspheres were placed in a 10 ml of ethanol solution containing quercetin and kaempferol (the initial concentration of quercetin and kaempferol were both 50 mg L −1 ). The concentration of quercetin and kaempferol in the mixture solution were measured by the double-peak dual-wavelength method [ 22 ] using the UV–vis spectrophotometer. The maximum absorption wavelengths of kaempferol and quercetin were 367 and 373 nm, respectively, after further work, the concentration of kaempferol and quercetin in the mixed solution were measured by the simultaneous Equation ( 1 ) as following:…”

“…And the molecular imprinted polymers (MIPs), which possess complementation spatial shape and binding site for a template molecule have gained great attention in the field of analytical chemistry for the past decade [1,2,3] . Because MIPs have predetermined selectivity, recognition and feasibility [4,5] , they have been used in many fields such as chromatography and solid phase extraction [6,7] .…”
