Preparation of pod-shaped TiO 2 and Ag@TiO 2 nano burst tubes and their photocatalytic activity

Abstract: The pod-shaped TiO 2 nano burst tubes (TiO 2 NBTs) were prepared by the combination of electrospinning and impregnation calcination with oxalic acid (H 2 C 2 O 4 ), polystyrene (PS) and tetrabutyl titanate. The silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) were loaded onto the surface of TiO 2 NBTs by ultraviolet light reduction method to prepare pod-shaped Ag@TiO 2 … Show more

“…With the increase of AgNPs in TiO2, the absorbance in the UV range was found to decrease, while the absorbance in the visible range was increased for AgNPs-loaded TiO2. This increase might be due to the fact that the ability of AgNPs-loaded TiO2 to absorb light in the visible region is stronger than that of pure TiO2 [55]. The absorption intensity of the pure and AgNPs-loaded TiO2 nanocrystals has been calculated using the relation: Whereas, the absorption coefficient (α) is calculated by the formula:…”

“…In this work, we emphasize the importance of pioneering coordination of nanotechnology and additive manufacturing technology, which were made a technological revolution in this era to lead immeasurable promises in science and technology. Silver decorated TiO 2 (Ag-TNP) is known to be an outstanding photoactive compound that is non-hazardous, cheap, and highly stable [52][53][54]. Here, we have reported the utilization of Ag decorated semiconducting TNP (Ag-TNP) as an effective initiator for the photopolymerization of acrylic-urethane resin under UV irradiation.…”

“…Since the ionic radii of Ag + (0.126 nm) is greater than that of Ti 4+ (0.068 nm) which permits only a little amount of Ag to dissolve into the periodic crystal lattice of TiO 2 by replacing the Ti 4+ ions [ 26 ]. This is due to reason that particles with smaller atomic radii than Ti atom act as interstitials to dissolve into Ti lattice as solid solution without substituting for Ti atoms [ 32 ]. These ionic radii mismatch also caused increase in d , ρ, and S as well as decrease in 2θ , β , W , a , c , and V with increase in enriching concentration.…”
